Nicole Keech

Nicole Keech works for Community Care Plan of Eastern Carolina (based at Vidant Medical Center here in Greenville) as a Pharmacy Program Assistant where she provides patient-centered care for Medicaid and Medicaid/Medicare patients, a vastly underrepresented community. She works with the pharmacy program with various Medicaid patients and assists PharmDs and care managers with Medicaid medication policy and assisting with medication reconciliation process. She also teaches a monthly Pharmacy Home course to all new hires. Additionally, she is embedded in ECU Internal Medicine clinic twice a week to assist ECU Internal Medicine residents with patient care of their Medicaid and Medicaid/Medicare patients.

Nicole says: Minoring in Ethnic Studies has allowed me to approach patient care from a MLT perspective, especially when assessing adherence and identifying potential barriers to adherence (cultural beliefs/religion, socioeconomic environments, etc.) so as to prevent hospital re-admissions.
